Texas Church Honored by Mosaic
In
May, Preston Meadow Lutheran Church of Plano, Texas gave volunteer
days of service doing landscaping and clean-up projects at homes for
Mosaic in Dallas. The service days were just the latest in a
long-running relationship of support for Mosaic by the church.
In
February, the church was honored as a Heart & Soul Award
recipient by Mosaic at the annual Heart & Soul Gala. Interim
Pastor Paul Mussachio said that the church receives more than they
give when they partner with Mosaic.
"Preston
Meadow Lutheran is priv-ileged to be able to partner with such a
great organization as Mosaic," he said. "Their mission to help
individuals live extraordinary lives impacts us as much as it impacts
their primary residents. They teach us about becoming extraordinary
ourselves by celebrating what God has given to us."
Individuals
with the church have long been supporters of Mosaic and the church
has regularly purchased tables at the annual Gala, with church
members serving as volunteers for the Gala by helping recruit gift
baskets. People Mosaic supports are invited to worship with the
congregation and the church sponsors a monthly "birthday bash"
for clients a couple of times a year.
"They
want us to be part of their congregation and they want to celebrate
how we can be a part of their congregation," said Beth Sabella,
Community Relations Manager for Mosaic in Dallas. "Pastor Paul
feels that Mosaic is a vital part of the ELCA, our synod, and the
Church."
