Camp Varatec
Each summer, the children supported by Motivation Romania spend time at the organization's camp in northeastern Romania. The camp, open to other non-governmental organizations (NGOs) for retreats and meetings, is the first of its kind in Romania. The six cabins are equipped for wheelchair users, each of which can accommodate four to six children and/or adults. In addition, the camp includes a kitchen, dining hall and an accessible playground. The camp has had a powerful impact upon the children as they experience nature through playing outdoors during the day or sitting by the campfire at night.
The range of possibilities for this camp is vast. Attendance is expected to grow tremendously as 2006 had an almost 20% increase in attendance over 2005. Dreams for the camp include a retreat center for people who volunteer at the camp, a tennis/basketball court for wheelchair users, as well as a physical and occupational therapy unit.
