Georgiana's story

Georgiana is a beautiful 6-year old little girl with an incredible smile. All one needs to do is smile at her and she breaks out with laughter and joy. Georgiana has an intellectual disability and is partially paralyzed from a fall out a window. She was taken to a government-run institution by her mother because she didn't want to take care of her. She was confined to her bed at the institution for six years.

When we found her, she weighed less than 25 pounds, and could barely move on her own. Her cheeks were sunken in; her little body lifeless. In less than one month, she has blossomed under the care of loving, patient and caring staff. Her caregivers said that it takes over an hour to feed Georgiana, but they are persistent and she has gained weight and has a beautiful little round face. A wheelchair especially made for her has given her mobility to see the world instead of only looking at the bare ceiling above her bed. She expresses her joy through squeals of delight and a smile that brightens the room.

Georgiana is receiving many supports, including speech therapy and physical therapy, as well as medical and psychological counseling. Hopefully, very soon she will find her host family and will definitely bring joy to them.
