Dear friends of Mosaic and Motivation Romania,
On behalf of our children and Motivation Romania, I want to personally thank you for your commitment and support of our work in Romania for children and young adults with disabilities.
Over the past four years, we have seen our children grow, and we have grown with them. We have constantly developed the quality of our services, and are also developing new services such as our vocational training program in gardening to address the needs of the children as they transition to adulthood.
Our hopes for the children have also grown. In the early days of our program, we wanted to help them forget the difficult lives they had in the institution, and to feel loved, safe and secure in their new, family-like homes. We wanted them to get healthier, to help them learn to walk and talk, to eat and to play. We wanted them to understand and believe that they now have enough to eat, their own toys, clothes and living spaces … and that no one would take them away.
Having seen our first wishes come true, Motivation Romania and Mosaic are now wishing for the future. Our vision for the children living in the group homes, with host families or their natural families is that they become as independent as possible. Our wish for the children is that they grow to be strong, healthy, happy adults, surrounded by a circle of friends and many people who care about them.
We want them to be included as equal members in the life of their community and its events. We also want them to give back to their communities, to the highest extent possible, as employees in the community or in employment programs, as peer group trainers supporting others in the same situation, as self-advocates, or as volunteers in the group homes or at Motivation Romania.
We are certain that our commitment, along with the efforts of our staff and the support of our friends at Mosaic, will make all of our wishes come true for the benefit of the children!
