We’re Counting on You. Keep Speaking Out Against Cuts to Medicaid

Earlier today members of the House of Representatives voted to pass the American Health Care Act. If passed by the Senate, this bill could have devastating consequences for millions of people with intellectual disabilities and other vulnerable people.

We are incredibly disappointed with the vote, but know our advocacy must continue.

This bill cuts more than $800 billion dollars from Medicaid, removes guarantees that people who need support will get it and jeopardizes the health and safety of millions of people in the United States.

We’re incredibly thankful for the thousands of advocates who told their elected officials to vote no. Mosaic advocates sent more than 1,500 messages to members of Congress in the last week alone.

These contacts, combined with the voices of our advocacy partners in the Lutheran Services in America (LSA) the Association American Network of Community Options and Resources (ANCOR) and hundreds of thousands of others, send a strong message to the Senate:

Medicaid Matters.

In the weeks and months to come, we’re counting on you to continue sharing your concerns with your Senators.

We must speak an unequivocal message: Reject any legislation that seeks to restructure and cut Medicaid as a cost-cutting measure, whether through per-capita caps, allotments or block grants.

People with intellectual disabilities depend upon it and depend on all of us to continue advocating for their care.
