David Turkowski's parents started on their mission to find a group home for him in the fall of 2006. They were getting older and unable to care for him. Mosaic was given his referral in October 2006. A Mosaic staff arranged a visit with Turkowski's mother and case manager.
During the visit it was apparent Turkowski's mother was quite nervous about her son moving out, he had lived with them his entire life. The staff at Mosaic shared their history, mission and values. They also explained basic assurances and how Mosaic uses personal outcome interviews to find out the wishes and needs of the people supported and try to make it all happen. She revealed that none of the other places she had visited had mentioned such a program. She told the Mosaic staff member they needed to secure Turkowski's future so they could "rest in peace."
Turkowski's mother asked if they could visit David and if he could still go home for visits. She also wondered if he could still attend his church, day program and bowling group. Mosaic staff assured her that if these were Turkowski's wishes, they would certainly make it happen. She confided to the staff that Mosaic was the best choice for her son and he moved in by the end of the month.

Turkowski now calls Inchcliffe his home. He is an active participant, making new traditions and maintaining his own. He looks forward to the annual limo ride with his roommates to the Starlight Ball, as well as many other celebrations they attend. Turkowski is an avid sports fan, particularly Boston teams. During Turkowski's most recent personal outcomes interview he stated he wanted to get tickets to a Red Sox game. Turkowski was able to attend a Red Sox game last year and looks foward to going to a Patriots game this year!
Turkowski's mother told Mosaic staff that she will now be able to "rest in peace" knowing her son has a home of his own and will be well taken care of there.
