Volunteer

Volunteer
Volunteer

Volunteers are welcome at Mosaic in Delaware. If you want to give back to the community, come volunteer and have fun doing it!

Volunteers to support the people in service directly and the needs of each person indirectly are equally valued. We have both support positions and direct service volunteer opportunities available.

We are also looking for volunteer opportunities for the people we serve to give back to the community! Please contact us if you have an opportunity you would like to discuss with us.

Some of the available opportunities are:

  • Direct Support - Work one-on-one with a person receiving services by playing a game, watching a movie, or working on a craft. Volunteers can also help people get involved in their community by accompanying them to a sporting event, a church service, or by simply going out to eat at a restaurant.

  • Group Volunteers - Mosaic welcomes groups who don't mind getting their hands dirty. Volunteer to work on a maintenance or repair project at one of our group homes.

  • Blue Moon Volunteers - Help make our parties and events a success by volunteering  once or few times a year, once in a blue moon. Blue Moon volunteers help at events to set-up, decorate, greet guests, serve food, assist individuals, hang up coats, wrap gifts, clean-up, etc.

  • Committee Volunteers - Mosaic has several committees that meet on a semi-regular basis to assure we are committed to living our Mosaic mission, vision and values. Volunteer to serve on our Partners in Possibilites Team, Human Rights Committee, Spiritual Committee, Newsletter Committee, Direct Support Professional Appreciation Week or Recreations Committee.

  • Church Opportunities - Churches can assist the agency in many of these volunteer opportunities. Church members can become a prayer partner, join our Spiritual Committee, or learn more about bringing the Rejoicing Spirits Ministry to their Church. Mosaic in Delaware has a rich history of involvement with local churches. We are always ready to come into churches to speak about Mosaic.

  • Other Opportunities - Offer your professional expertise to the people we support. We are always looking for professionals in our community to give presentations or even donate time or services, such as art curator for our art gallery, teach a cooking class, or share with staff your experience with computers or iPads in the workplace.

There are an endless number of volunteer opportunities at Mosaic in Delaware. For additional information or to get involved, attend a Discover the Possibilities event or contact us.

Partners

Partners
Partners

There are many ways to become a partner with Mosaic.

  • Donors help Mosaic to provide activities and items that would not otherwise be available due to limited government funding.

  • Ambassadors open doors in the community for Mosaic. Ambassadors help to foster our core value of “Connections” through relationships, partnerships and promoting awareness in the community. They do this by inviting people to attend a one-hour Discover the Possibilities tour.

  • Volunteers help build connections between the people Mosaic supports and the communities in which they live.

  • Advocates lend their voices to the public debate about ensuring sustainable, secure and holistic supports for people with disabilities across the country and around the world. For more information, visit www.mosaicalliedvoices.org, attend a Discover the Possibilities event or contact us.

  • Discover the Possibilities Partners - These people provide lunch to guests (about a dozen people) who are visiting our office to learn more about Mosaic. Discover the Possibilities brown-bagged lunches are held several times a year, as a partner your business/restaurant could sponsor the lunch for one or several of these events.

  • Friendly Neighbor Partner - Our Friendly Neighbor program is an exceptional opportunity for your family, church, civic group, or business to become involved with Mosaic and support the people of one or more group homes. A Friendly Neighbor Partner lives up to the definition of "being neighborly" to a selected group home(s). Each partner decides how they wish to honor that relationship, however the opportunities are endless such as hosting people for dinner, helping with household maintenance, or offering to donate items needed for the people in the home. Groups are not required to reside in the same neighborhood of the group home in order to become a Friendly Neighbor Partner.

  • Internships - Interns help to carry out our mission while learning through supervised participation in the work at Mosaic. In a partnership between Mosaic and the institution individuals grow in self-awareness, interpersonal communication, interviewing skills, and have an in depth introduction to the agency. Interns get to know the people served through a project centered internship. Interns also serve as Ambassadors and advocates for people with intellectual disabilities by introducing people in the community to Mosaic. Delaware Technical Community College, Human Services students have the opportunity to apply for a non-paid 15 hour a week internship and should contact us if interested. All other college applicants are encouraged to speak to their advisors if interested.

For additional information or to get involved, attend a Discover the Possibilities event or contact us.
