Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

Because inclusion is about all of us, Mosaic will celebrate National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, which takes place in March. This observance reminds us to recognize people with disabilities as valuable, contributing members of our communities.

Throughout the month of March, Mosaic agencies will celebrate, participate, and have a variety of events.

These are just the few of the activities going on during the month of March at Mosaic:

  • Mosaic in Des Moines, Iowa will have a float in a St. Patrick's Day parade.
  • Mosaic in Omaha, Neb will display the Life Stories: Everyone Has a Story project, which features the art of 22 people who Mosaic assists.
  • Mosaic in San Angelo, Texas is hosting its first Belt Buckle Ball.
  • Mosac in Dallas, Texas is hosting the March for Respect.
  • Mosaic in San Antonio, Texas is holding a Walk a Mile in My Shoes activity.

Mosaic is also sponsoring coloring contests for children in some locations and has provided inclusion-themed materials for churches, schools and other organizations to use.

Inclusion is about living full lives and about living together as a community. You can make a difference by inviting people with disabilities to participate in your community activities and civic organizations, or by giving a gift of time or money to support people with disabilities.

Invite someone else be a part of your community rather than apart from it.

Mosaic has materials available to help your church or community celebrate Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.
