Prepare for Mosaic's fast-moving future
The pace of change at Mosaic has been dramatic for four straight years. It will become even more dramatic in the future. We've gone through our infancy and toddler years and now we're ready to run!I have been in a leadership position at Mosaic, and formerly Bethphage, for more than 25 years. In all of that time I have
never seen so many positive changes happening so quickly as I have in the last four years. I particularly want to mention
some of the good things that have happened in the last year that are laying the groundwork for the way Mosaic is transforming the face of disabilities services.
More than a year ago we announced our five-year strategic plan, titled "Leading on a Grand Scale." To reach the long-term goals, we're working on short-term annual goals. Last year we exceeded almost every one of the shortterm goals we set.
One of the industry-leading areas we're focusing on is Personal Outcome Measures® (POM). In a POM system, Mosaic truly partners with the people we support. Consequently, it is important to know what they want for their lives. I am proud to say that in the last year we have had POM interviews with 98.57% of the people we support, and we have incorporated their wants and desires into their service plans. That is true partnership. They decide what they want and we help make it happen.
We also have made dramatic progress in retaining quality employees and in increasing our employee satisfaction. Because disabilities service providers experience a high rate of employee turnover, we set a goal to reduce our turnover of local executive directors to less than 20% annually. Last year, our turnover rate for executive directors was 13.4%.
On top of those successes, we also had the best fiscal year we've ever known. Our stewardship and business practices are setting a solid financial base so that we can continue our ministry in the years to come, even as we face increasingly challenging funding situations. (I'd share specific financial information, but the Board of Directors needs to approve the final figures before we make them public.)
The pace of change has been rapid. But it is time to prepare yourself because we are not slowing down. Mosaic is moving
forward, not on our own power alone, but on the power of the prayer and support by so many of you who have partnered with us. We could not do what we do without your help. We could not do what we do without the blessing of God.
In Mosaic's ministry, it is because of the many talented and good people who partner in this mission that so many good things are happening. I thank you for your work and look forward to a bright future.
