Heart & Soul Gala

#
Gathering celebrating its 10th Anniversary

It is known casually as the "biggest Lutheran party in Dallas," but the Mosaic Heart and Soul Gala brings together Lutheran and non-Lutheran community members who have a common mission -- they want to assist people with developmental disabilities reach their goals and achieve their dreams.

The Tenth Annual Heart & Soul Gala will be Feb. 16, 2007, at the Westin Galleria in Dallas. The Heart & Soul Gala began in 1998 as a way to honor community members who were making a significant difference in the lives of the people who have disabilities. The Gala includes a dinner, a silent auction and a live auction. It also provides a way to raise awareness and needed funds to assist in areas where Medicaid dollars do not reach.

"Before attending my first Heart & Soul Gala, I knew little about Mosaic," said Lynn Nikaidoh, who with her husband Hisashi served as Honorary Chaircouple in 2005. "Being with people who share my interest in and love for people with disabilities, as well as who share my faith, is a wonderful experience. The event is special for the residents of the group homes, as well, as they dress up and enjoy the evening."

Since its beginning, the Gala has become grown dramatically. The first Gala had attendance of 79 people. In 2006, 380 people attended and the event raised nearly $50,000.
