Employee finds great rewards in work at Mosaic
Beth Hartger worked part-time in a group home while in college although it was not going to be her chosen profession. She now believes God had a different plan.
In her own words …
"I remember thinking my part-time job was fine while I was in school, but it was not what I wanted to do when I left college. After graduation with my social work degree, a couple of jobs with children just did not feel right. I ended up working at Mosaic because I wanted a job with an evening shift like my husband's. I now look back and realize that working at Mosaic has made me happier, and has given me more fulfillment than any other job I have ever had. I know God lead me to Mosaic because I am sure that I would not have chosen this on my own. I know I am where I am supposed to be and I love it.
"I have been working at the Versailles home for more than a year. I help the six men by providing stability and continuity. They know they can count on me. Every night before I leave my shift, Ricky asks me if I will be picking him up tomorrow. It's that important to them. I've been told that Rudy is talking more since I started. Encouraging them to do more and seeing their progress is one of the reasons I stay. Knowing that I had a small part in helping to make that happen makes me feel good.
"Mosaic has a lot of good things going on. The men know not only their direct staff but also the other people at the agency. Staff who do not work directly with the men take the time to know them and to talk to them. Quite simply, Mosaic is about caring.
"I know that I could make more money and have less stress if I worked at another job. But it is so rewarding to see one of the men who has had a challenging week do something or say something or make you laugh. It gives you a good feeling about making someone's life just a little bit better. It does not get any better than that."
