March 2012

Dear Friends,

As the Resource Development Manager for Mosaic International, it is my job to educate and raise funds for our international projects in Tanzania and Romania. I am inspired about the work that Mosaic does in other countries. Even more so now that I have recently returned from a three-week visit to the Mosaic International programs in Romania and Tanzania.

Before this trip, I didn't realize that my view of the world would be forever changed once I had the opportunity to see our programs for the first time. Nor did I realize that the faces of the individuals I would meet in Tanzania and Romania would be forever etched in my mind and heart. Both the verbal and nonverbal words they shared would be constant reminders of why I strive to make sure every person I meet knows about the work of Mosaic International.

In Romania, I met individuals with disabilities who have persevered through unimaginable circumstances to become thriving, healthy, happy young men and women. Many of these men and women hold jobs through our partner, Motivation Romania, either in the greenhouse, the wheelchair factory or the occupational therapy center. In addition to employment, they receive intensive therapies that enable them to achieve their personal goals and be successful. It was an incredible experience to have the chance to talk some of the young men and women we serve in Romania. As they talked about their friends, work, home and activities, you couldn't help but be inspired and enthused about their zest for life!

The experiences in Tanzania were equally inspiring and emotional. It was shocking to see how little the individuals and their families have, and yet, they are so incredibly kind and gracious. I couldn't help but be proud of the immense work being done and how many lives have been touched since we began our work in 2007. I also had the privilege of being welcomed into several homes of families whose children are enrolled in the Mosaic International program. I was able to fully comprehend how our services take on a holistic approach by not only changing the child's life, but the entire family. Through our day centers, micro-credit lending program and caregiver cooperatives, we have touched over 250 people's lives. While I wanted to thank each one of the people we met for touching my life, they wanted me to send a thank you to each of you--our friends and donors--for what you have done for their lives.

Words cannot fully express the experiences I had in Tanzania and Romania. The memories will forever be with me.

There is no way I can possibly tell you how important each of you are in the lives of the individuals we support in Tanzania and Romania. Without you, the hopes and dreams these individuals now have, would be non-existent.

I encourage you to join us for one of our monthly Discover the Possibilities events to hear more personal stories of those whose lives have been changed by our work in Tanzania and Romania. Our Discover the Possibilities are one hour educational events. There is no charge to attend. We just ask that you be willing to provide us feedback after the event. For those of you who are not in the Omaha area, but would be interested in holding an event in your community, please contact me at 402-896-3884 x1126 or at megan.moslander@mosaicinfo.org.

Again, thank you for being a part of Mosaic International.

Sincerely,

Megan Moslander

International Resource Development Manager
