Until she began her career as a Direct Support Associate, Alba Rosario never knew how much she would love making a difference by working alongside people with disabilities. She asks God to give her strength to go on working. "I feel needed," Alba said. "I don't feel like another worker. I feel like I make a difference."
Alba has been working in this field since 1996. Recently she began teaching at Inspirations, the San Antonio Day Hab. Her experience in teaching Sunday school at her church has helped her transition into teaching at the Day Hab. She is always looking for educational and interesting material that can help reach the individuals on their level. You can help her help people by sending her educational materials. For more information on what to send, contact the San Antonio office.

"I think about how I would like to be treated, what I would do for myself, I do for you." Gloria Ordonez started with Mosaic in January, 2009 in Seguin. She is a Direct Support Associate at Cedar House. In the short time since she has been here, she has learned to pray in sign language. It only took her two weeks! You can watch a video of this demonstration on our Web site and our MySpace page.
When she came to Mosaic, Gloria said that she had been looking for a job that she feels makes a difference in someone's life. "At the end of my shift, I go home knowing that I helped make someone smile," she said.
See Gloria demonstrating her sign language skills.

"I am a Christian man. I feel like this is God's will for me to work here." Joesph Broussard was out of work and needed a job during a time when jobs were hard to come by. In January, 2003, Broussard prayed before he opened up a newspaper to begin that day's job hunt. He saw a help-wanted ad for Mosaic and the rest is, as they say, history. Interestingly, his brother has Down syndrome and was the second person to call Mosaic home when services were first offered in Seguin. "At this point in my life, I have the ability to make their [the individuals] life as good as I can," Broussard said.

Suzanna Neary had been a case manager in group homes run by other providers before joining the Mosaic team. In comparison, she says, here "they [the individuals] are always busy ... always doing something in the community. They actually go out and do things like see a movie, eat out in restaurants, go to church twice a week, have exercise activities." She likes to come to work because "it is really fun working with the individuals ... it doesn't feel like 'work' to me." As a Direct Support Associate at Willow Lane, Neary said "the staff is very nice and willing to help you out ... you can tell that they really care about the people they work for." Neary holds a bachelor's in psychology and plans to go back to school for a masters in counseling. She hopes to enroll at University Texas of San Antonio for the fall 2009 session.
