Mosaic Creates a Variety of Doormats

#
(10/20/2009) By Dennis Kellogg - If you are in the market for a door mat, there is a group in Grand Island that has been making them for years. Lynn, Justin and Kenneth are busy creating custom--designed door mats.

"I have been doing this for a lot of years," said Lynn Redding.

The three are part of a longtime project at Mosaic. Lynette Morse has been working with the individuals here for 7 years.

"What we do here is we work with people with developmental disabilities. We assist them to achieve what is important to them. What they want to get out of life," said Morse.

Floats play big part in Harvest of Harmony

#

Mosaic in Tri-Cities has participated in the Harvest of Harmony parade for the last nine years. This year, they were given the Grand Marshal Award for the second year in a row.

The float was made up of a 6-foot balloon covered with paper mache and painted like a globe. Two different colored hands were on either side of the world, which was circled by cutouts of people wearing shirts with flags from different countries. Congrats Mosaic!

Dream the I'm Possible Dream

Pete Mackie has been a staff member of Mosaic in Tri-Cities for nearly 10 years. He and his wife of 42 years have been host home parents, foster parents, and cared for other teens for almost 30 years of their marriage.

An advocate for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, Pete will be running in the Disney half-marathon on Jan. 9, 2010 to benefit Mosaic. Pete is paying his own expenses to participate in this event and his goal is to raise $5,000 for Mosaic.
