Ways To Help

Donor Rights

Principles and Practices

In seeking to support people with disabilities through its fund-raising endeavors, Mosaic adheres both to the Association of Lutheran Development Executives' Cod of Ethical Principles and Practices, and to the Donor Bill of Rights.

The Code requires Mosaic's fund-raising staff to:

  • seek to serve Christ faithfully and hold his name as supreme
  • work for the best interest of the donor
  • accurately portray the institutional mission in all communications
  • maintain confidentiality in handling donor and prospective donor records
  • avoid or disclose all potential conflicts of interest
  • comply with all federal, state, and municipal laws
  • deal charitably, fairly, and honestly with other professionals and organizations
  • ensure accurate use of designated gifts, optimal management of all solicited funds and truthful reporting.

Donors also have the right to:

  • be assured their gifts will be used for the purposes for which they were given
  • have access to the organization's most recent financial statements
  • expect the board to exercise prudent judgment in its stewardship
  • receive appropriate acknowledgment and recognition
  • have their donations handles with respect and confidentiality
  • ask questions and receive prompt, truthful and forthright answers.
