Principles and Practices
In seeking to support people with disabilities through its fund-raising endeavors, Mosaic adheres both to the Association of Lutheran Development Executives' Cod of Ethical Principles and Practices, and to the Donor Bill of Rights.
The Code requires Mosaic's fund-raising staff to:
- seek to serve Christ faithfully and hold his name as supreme
- work for the best interest of the donor
- accurately portray the institutional mission in all communications
- maintain confidentiality in handling donor and prospective donor records
- avoid or disclose all potential conflicts of interest
- comply with all federal, state, and municipal laws
- deal charitably, fairly, and honestly with other professionals and organizations
- ensure accurate use of designated gifts, optimal management of all solicited funds and truthful reporting.
Donors also have the right to:
- be assured their gifts will be used for the purposes for which they were given
- have access to the organization's most recent financial statements
- expect the board to exercise prudent judgment in its stewardship
- receive appropriate acknowledgment and recognition
- have their donations handles with respect and confidentiality
- ask questions and receive prompt, truthful and forthright answers.
