A bequest under a will or revocable trust is an easy way to support the mission of Mosaic. Bequests work particularly well for those unable to make an immediate, outright gift, but would like to leave a portion of their estate to Mosaic after their death.
Making a bequest in your will or revocable trust provides you with a number of benefits including:
- Peace of mind - You can be assured that your assets will be distributed in ways that provide ongoing support to the people and charitable organizations that are important to you.
- Estate tax savings -The amount of your bequest may be fully deductible from your taxable estate, which may place your estate in a lower tax bracket.
- Gift amount of your choice - Your bequest can be for any amount; there is no minimum.
A bequest offers great flexibility. Options include:
- A specific dollar amount
- Specific assets
- All or a percentage of your estate
- All or a percentage of your estate's residual value (the portion of your entire estate that remains after all specific bequests have been satisfied).
Sample Bequest Language
We encourage you to use the sample language below to make a provision for a gift of a specific sum of money or items of property, or a gift of all or a fraction of your residuary estate.
"I give [specific dollar amount, description of specific property, all the residue, or a percent of the residue] to The Mosaic Foundation, a non-profit Nebraska corporation, to: (select one):
- support the mission of Mosaic.
- support the Mosaic agency located in [city, state].
- be placed in the Mosaic Endowment Fund.¨
