It’s a Meaningful Life

It's a Meaningful Life

“Each man’s life touches so many other lives, and when he isn’t around, he leaves an awful hole, doesn’t he?”

The angel Clarence poses this question to Jimmy Stewart’s iconic George Bailey in the film It’s a Wonderful Life.

Without George, so many things would have been different in the town of Bedford Falls. But George struggles to see the impact he has before Clarence arrives.

The film’s underlying message – every life has meaning – is poignant. It’s one we can certainly relate to here at Mosaic.

Imagine if our founder, the Rev. K.G. William Dahl, had never befriended Gustav and never witnessed the discrimination and neglect Gustav faced. He likely would not have been moved to establish Bethphage Inner Mission Association in 1913. The Mosaic we know today, which can be traced back to that foundational friendship, would probably not exist.

It’s often little things that carry meaning.

As a direct support professional, simply being present consistently can have a far-reaching effect. It usually leads to fuller lives for people in service and peace of mind for parents and guardians.

Not as often lifted up, though, is the reciprocal nature of the relationship between those we serve and those who serve. Time and time again, we see that the lives of those who serve are changed for the better because of the people they support.

Our mission is both life-giving and life-changing for everyone involved.
