Mosaic in Omaha

Mosaic in Omaha hosted an Inclusion Matters picnic on Friday, May 18 at Mahoney State Park.

More than 300 people joined the event which included a BBQ buffet, paddle boats, mini-golf and motorcycle sidecar rides for the people served by Mosaic.

The event was an opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate inclusion.

“Our mission is about providing a life of opportunities and fulfilling dreams,” said Roxanne Roman, Executive Director of Mosaic in Omaha and Lincoln. “That’s what we do every day at Mosaic, and that’s what the picnic was all about.”

Through collaboration with local businesses, other non-profit organizations and community partners, Mosaic was able to provide many experiences to people with intellectual disabilities that they may not otherwise get.

The motorcycle sidecar experience is a great example of people coming together to make possibilities happen. The effort began last fall at Mosaic’s annual Partners in Possibilities fundraiser when a parent told the crowd of 100 about her son’s dream of riding a motorcycle. Thanks to Mosaic’s partners at The Verdant Group, we were introduced to the right connection to make this dream a reality.

Joe Garcia, whose fiancé is employed at The Verdant Group, was more than happy to provide this unique opportunity to the people served by Mosaic.
