Mosaic Possible means following your dreams, even if that involves politics!  Karl Boerger has a knack for politics. So when the Nebraska Association of Service Providers (NASP) presented the opportunity to visit with his Senator and see the Legislature in session, there was no hesitation. Karl took the day off work to celebrate Nebraska's 101st birthday with intellectual and development disabilities services providers and self-advocates from across the state, including friends from Mosaic in Axtell and Kearney.

A life of possibilities. We say that all the time at Mosaic.

The pomp of a graduation ceremony seems to speak the same thing: a life of possibilities.

Those possibilities are almost palpable for a number of people served by Mosaic as they achieve graduation milestones this time of year. With their families, they look toward the future with optimism and excitement.

KMTV3 News Now recently did a spotlight on how disability funding cuts in the state of Nebraska will affect individuals with disabilities. Watch the clip here.

KETV had a similar segment featuring another individual. That clip can be found here.

Earlier this month, People First of Beatrice was awarded the People First Nebraska Chapter of the Year award at the People First of Nebraska Annual Convention held in Kearney, Nebraska. This honor is awarded annually to one of Nebraska's 16 People First chapters. People First of Beatrice won because of their dedication to being self-advocates and the role that they have played to become part of the larger community of Beatrice.

We have been blessed with some nice spring-like weather so far, so hopefully the good Ol’ Nebraska winter weather stays away! We continue to be very busy in all areas here at Mosaic.

People First

by Wendy Doyle and Lori Broady

About a year ago, all we knew was that we wanted to start a local chapter of the People First of Nebraska. With the help and dedication of many at Mosaic in Beatrice and Lori Broady, mother of Michelle Broady who Mosaic helps to support, this quickly took off. This is a self-advocay group run for and by people with intellectual disabilities. We never could have imagined the amount of individuals that have joined and become involved.
