Promise Magazine: Stories of Growth, Connection, Grit
We created Promise Magazine to share the human stories of our organization, and the summer 2026 issue does just that.
As you turn the pages, you’ll read stories of growth, connection and grit, beginning with a brief history of Mosaic’s call to love and serve.
Denise McMillen also shares her advice for parents of children with autism. Denise reflects proudly on all her son Andrew has taught her family through the years about what’s truly important in life. Her advice for parents includes: “See the able, not the label.”
You’ll also meet Julie, who has been supported by Mosaic for 50 years. Julie loves to show visitors around the Mosaic in Beatrice campus and works to earn money for trips. She also loves Elvis Presley and is thrilled when an Elvis impersonator comes to perform on the campus.
Karyn Madison reflects on the emotions she had when the time came to transition her son Matthew from care in the family home to a host home. With Mosaic’s help, her reluctance and worry turned to acceptance, hope and a true understanding of the proverb “It takes a village.”
If you’ve seen the news, you know Mosaic is up against some very real hurdles, the biggest involving Medicaid. We highlight what you need to know and how you can join in our advocacy efforts.
Finally, we highlight a milestone anniversary for Mosaic President and CEO Linda Timmons. In March, Linda celebrated her 40th anniversary with the organization. She looks back on how her part-time job on the Mosaic in Axtell campus (then known as Bethphage) as a high school student in the early 1980s grew into a life’s calling, and what’s kept her going for 40 years and counting.
