Mosaic in Lubbock

by Kim Davis, Community Relations Manager

Today, I was blessed to see a youth group from Tomball, TX interact with and entertain the people served by Mosaic in Lubbock.

Last week I received a phone call from their youth pastor. Her group was going to be attending camp in Colorado and coming home, they would be spending the night in Lubbock and they were looking for a place to do volunteer work. She ‘googled’ non-profits in Lubbock and found Mosaic.

She had done work with individuals with intellectual disabilities in the past and thought it would be a good experience for the young people in this group. As it turned out, the group was from Salem Lutheran Church in Tomball, TX but she did not know of Mosaic’s Lutheran background when she placed the call to work with us.

I have to admit, I was a little nervous because sometimes young people do not connect and interact with the people we serve very well. I soon found that I had no reason to be worried. They truly hit the ground running and became the very hands and feet of Jesus. They worked hard to include everyone in the activities and I believe they fell in love with our folks, just like many of us have. I found myself in tears as they said their good byes. Without a doubt, today my heart was truly blessed!
