Empowering People in Kansas
Real life. Real possibilities.
Empowering People in Kansas
By Christine Schroeder
Vice President of Operations, Kansas
Whether you’re deeply connected to Mosaic or new to our caring community, I’d like to take this opportunity to reintroduce you to our mission.
Embracing God’s call, Mosaic relentlessly pursues opportunities that empower people.
Relentlessly pursuing opportunities has led Mosaic to provide a wide spectrum of services for people throughout our 106-year history, and we have no plans of stopping this pursuit any time soon.
As the vice president of operations over the state, I hope to use this statewide newsletter to share updates on the opportunities we are pursuing at Mosaic and stories of the people we’ve empowered.
Thanks to you – our donors, partners, family and friends – people in 52 communities right here Kansas are empowered to live more satisfying lives and experience as much independence as they choose.
A few highlights include:
- Expanding services in North Central Kansas (formerly Mosaic in Ellsworth) and South Central Kansas (formerly Mosaic in Winfield) to ensure that people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in more rural communities can receive much needed services.
- Continued growth in Mosaic at Home (commonly known as shared living), which gives people the opportunity to live in a more family or roommate-like environment if they choose.
- Successfully advocating for an increase to KanCare’s protected income level from $747 to $1,177. This increase can make huge difference for the people we support who rely on Medicaid and other government funding to survive.
While much has changed in the healthcare landscape in the last five years, our commitment to the people we support in the state of Kansas remains.
We will continue to provide new services and options to empower the more than 551 people we support.
We do this by:
- Building partnerships with community organizations and churches that welcome the people we support to participate.
- Collaborating with employers to help the people we serve find work opportunities.
- Advocating with government officials and regulators to make sure people’s rights are protected and to ensure that life-saving services are appropriately funded.
- Friend and fundraising to help bridge the gap between what’s funded and what it takes to live a meaningful life.
It takes faithfulness, grit and a community of people connecting with each other to make sure all can belong. Thank you for making possibilities a reality in Kansas!

Mosaic supports 551 people in 52 communities in Kansas. We couldn’t do this without the support of donors, volunteers, 304 employees and 62 contractors who empower the people we support and YOU.

A Royal Rendition
Thad, who is supported by Mosaic in Northeast Kansas, had the great opportunity to sing the national anthem at a Royals game earlier this year as part of the team’s Autism Awareness Month celebrations. Thanks to the Royals for welcoming Thad and the people we support to the game!
