The Mosaic Redwine Child Care Center welcomes Janice Perkins, a child care specialist who is serving as assistant director to Mosaic's childcare center. Janice has been working in early childhood education for more than 20 years. She has five children, ages 22 - 30, and has been living in San Angelo for three years. She loves working in a job that offers different adventures daily.

“I enjoy the anticipation of something new and exciting happening every day with the children,” she said.

Welcome to Mosaic, Janice!

It's hard to believe that it's finally going to happen, but the arena building will arrive on Monday, Feb. 23, and the construction of the arena will begin that week! Even more exciting, the  arena should be complete by the end of the month, just in time for therapeutic riding sessions to begin in late March. Exciting times at Mosaic in San Angelo!

Mosaic’s Redwine Child Care Center will be hosting a fundraiser next week to raise money for a new soft surface for the playground. (Did you know that Mosaic is the only child care in San Angelo that provides services to kids to special needs? Our integrated program combines children with special needs along with children without special needs, so they grow up learning to play together!)

We were so excited to hold the groundbreaking ceremony for our covered riding arena in January! Mosaic is proud to be able to offer therapeutic riding services to people of all ages with both physical and intellectual disabilities. A covered arena means that we can offer riding classes on a more consistent basis, without having to cancel because of wind, rain, or extreme heat. The arena should be complete by the end of March. Many more pictures to come in future newsletters!

After serving as the executive director of Mosaic in San Angelo since 1987, Liz Jones retired in February. We are sad to see her go, but excited that she will get to spend some time doing things she loves to do. Lucky for us, one of those things includes coming back to Mosaic to serve as a volunteer with our therapeutic riding program!

One of the people we serve celebrated her 60th birthday party in Mosaic’s celebration room, and invited all of her Mosaic friends to join her! “Princess Katie” celebrated in style, with her royal ball gown, a tiara, and even a mariachi band! Katie loved singing along with the band, and all of her friends had a ton of fun dancing the evening away!
